Myopia Control & Management
Myopia means nearsightedness or shortsightedness. It is a pandemic eye disease that causes your far away vision such as, TV, blackboards and signs to appear blurry, while up close objects are seen relatively clearly. This is because the shape of the eye instead of being perfectly spherical, it is elliptically long like a football. As a result, light rays focus in front of the retina, rather than on the retina.
The number of myopia cases is exponentially growing worldwide in children. A projection of 60% of the global population will have myopia by 2050. It is believed that myopia is a combination of genetic, environmental and habitual factors. If myopia is caught at an early age, preventative measures can take place to slow down its progression. Treatment plans are discussed and created unique to your child's visual conditions. Myopia management and treatments should continue with careful monitoring until a child stops showing signs of myopia progression.
